Overview
How important is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) to your business?
In this course we explore why considering SEO is important for your business. We will look into what SEO is – the history of search, how search engines crawl/index/rank web pages, and how to perform an SEO audit of your current site. In this Unit I will include a video that looks at what SEO is, and why it is important for your business.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate a knowledge of search engine optimisation and how to utilise this for your own website and marketing strategy.
- A knowledge of different SEO rules/tactics customer focussed websites.
- Outline a relevant strategy for search engine optimisation.
Assessments
- SEO Audit (20%) Create an SEO Audit of your website using one of the tools provided. Select from the audit three points you feel you can focus on to improve (e.g. if the report shows you a range of broken links you can fix, or where to add metatitles). No more than 500 words needed for the three areas to improve.
- Keyword Strategy (30%) Create a keyword strategy (2 pages), using a range of tools provided.
- SEO Strategy (50%) Create your SEO strategy – split into on page SEO, technical SEO and how to optimise your website content.

Entry Requirements
This course is for everyone. No previous experience is needed and there are no formal entry requirements.
What Do I Need?
As this is an online course, you would need the following:
• Internet access
• Access to a laptop or computer with a web camera and microphone; the use of headphones might also be of benefit
• Use of the Chrome web-browser where possible.
