Scott has an academic and fieldwork-based background in geospatial data acquisition and analysis, terrestrial and marine geophysics, and UAV survey. He also has an academic background in archaeological method and theory. His PhD focussed on multiscalar analysis of archaeological patterns which reflect community identity between the Romano-British and early medieval periods in southern England. While his research specialty focuses on Late Roman and Early Medieval landscapes, particularly in Britain, his fieldwork has taken him around the UK and the world, including surveys in Morocco, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.

Scott currently lives in Winchester, Hampshire with his lovely wife and their three cats (Toby, Sacha, and Théoden). He enjoys camping, hiking, practicing homesteading skills, and music.
