Overview

This module is designed to give an introduction to the practical elements of working in three dimensions using wire, wax, and papier mache. Ideas will be initiated by studies of observational drawings set by tutor and developed in a visual diary. Students will be encouraged to investigate historical and contemporary references and explore drawing with wire using a variety of drawing medium. Tutor demonstrations will give practical techniques needed to realize and develop ideas using the mediums of wire, paper and wax.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module, students should be able to:  

  1. Demonstrate an ability to produce and develop maquettes from life.
  2. Explore ideas through preliminary drawings to be realized in three dimension.
  3. Demonstrate a range of elementary technical skills associated with construction, modelling, working in the round and use appropriate visual vocabulary.
  4. Make a personal response to the brief set by tutor and work to deadlines.
