For a more structured, teaching-led approach to postgraduate study.
A taught postgraduate programme is a natural step for graduates, who would like to pursue further study.
In a similar approach as that used at undergraduate level, these programmes consist of course modules taught by senior academic staff through lectures, seminars, lab work and more.
Key Information:
- It should take one year (full-time) or two years (part-time) to complete a taught postgraduate programme;
- Taught programmes include Masters of Arts (MA), Masters of Sciences (MSc), Masters of Business Administration (MBA), Masters of Law (LLM) and Master of Research (MRes);
- You will complete a set of taught modules before embarking on a research project or creative practice;
- Assessments will vary from discipline to discipline, and may include group work, individual presentations, coursework, lab reports, examinations, and a final project dissertation;
- Students who successfully complete a Master’s degree may then go on to study for a doctoral degree. In some cases, Master’s degrees may form part of a Professional Doctorate.
- Successful completion of the taught modules leads to the award of a Postgraduate Diploma and it is possible to exit with that award.
