How your Application is Processed
The Postgraduate Admissions team will review your application, and any supporting documents submitted, and consider it against the University's published academic entry requirements. You are welcome to apply for postgraduate study before you have completed any current studies, or if you have already completed your qualification(s). If you apply before you have completed your studies, and the University decides to make you an offer for a place to study with us, then the submission of relevant additional documents to demonstrate your successful completion and award of the qualification at the required level to meet the academic entry requirement, will be a condition of the offer made to you.
Postgraduate Admissions will make a decision in relation to your application centrally wherever possible, If your previous or current qualification(s) do not meet the academic entry requirements, or if your application is for a research course, then your application will be forwarded to the relevant academic department for their consideration and decision. You can expect to be informed of the decision in relation to your application usually within 2 weeks for Taught Masters courses and 6 weeks for PhD or Research programmes.
When the decision has been made, you will receive a letter confirming whether:
- You have been successful and a place for study is being offered
- You have been invited for an interview
- We are unable to offer you a place
Your offer letter outlines:
- The conditions and/or requirements that you need to meet before you can complete the admissions process (and for international applicants, before you can receive your CAS)
- The tuition fee for your chosen course
- The start date of your chosen course
Only once you have fulfilled all the conditions/requirements of your offer letter will you will receive:
- A letter confirming your place for study Aberystwyth University
- (international students only) A CAS letter to use as part of your visa application
- Information about how to formally register for your course and how to pay tuition fees
You will also receive:
- More general information about travel and arrival, and details about how to apply for University accommodation
