What do you love about Aberystwyth and Aberystwyth University?
While the town is beautiful with gorgeous sea front and stunning views, what I love the most about Aberystwyth and the University is its people. The people in Aber are really lovely and welcoming. Both within the university and in town I found that people were always very kind and willing to help.
What have you enjoyed most about your course?
My supervisors were always open and supportive of my research ideas. Also, the communication from the university has been excellent, any questions that I had regarding my course, modules or even visa-related questions, they were all answered promptly, usually within the same day.
How did you find adjusting to life in Aberystwyth?
It was surprisingly easy to adjust to the life in Aberystwyth. I found that there were different points of support through the university to help with transitioning into life in Aber. For example, there was res-life team to address all the accommodation questions, the different societies of Student’s Union were quite helpful to make new friends and the Graduate school’s event for PhD student’s helped with getting to know fellow PhD student’s across the different departments. All these enabled me to be part of the close-knit community of Aber.
What advice would you give someone considering studying at Aberystwyth University?
Be open to new experiences and make sure that your choice aligns with your academic goals and personal interests.
Have you joined any student clubs or societies and what have you enjoyed about them?
Yes, I have joined couple of societies. CathSoc was my favourite one has it helped me to connect with people of my faith. It helped me to discover the local catholic church, connect with the community and make new friends. I even got to be on the Committee of CathSoc as its President which was a great experience.
