How will I be able to open a UK bank account?
Once an international applicant has formally registered as a student with the University, you can request a Letter of Introduction to UK Banking Facilities
To request your letter:
Log into www.aber.ac.uk/en/student
Under the heading Your Sites click on Student Record
You will need your Aberystwyth username and password to log in
Once you have logged in, click on Personal and choose Student Letter Requests and click New request for a bank letter
Your name MUST appear as it does on your passport. If you need to change this you can do this by choosing the 'incorrect' section and this will direct you to the area to change your name/address
You MUST have both term and home address listed on your record
Choose the bank that you wish to open an account with - Barclays Bank, Halifax, HSBC Bank , TSB Bank or Santander
You can print your letter from Hugh Owen Library - the letter MUST be printed in colour or you can collect in person from F11, Cledwyn Building, Penglais Campus two working days after it has been requested.
