Private Press books
The Library has a collection of books produced by private presses during the Twentieth Century.
Gregynog Press
The Gregynog Press (1922-1940) was one of the foremost private presses of the pre-war era. The University has a comprehensive set of books published by the press, including examples of some of the very limited editions which were issued with special bindings.
Re-established by the University of Wales in 1978 under its Welsh title, Gwasg Gregynog, the Press continues to produce fine limited edition books, prints and ephemera and the University aims to acquire titles as they are published.
The majority of Gregynog Press and Gwasg Gregynog books are kept in temperature and humidity controlled conditions in the School of Art, Buarth Mawr, Aberystwyth and requests to view them should be made direct to the School on 01970 622460.
The Golden Cockerel Press
Artists whose work is represented in the above collections include Agnes Miller Parker, Gertrude Hermes, Eric Gill and Reynolds Stone.
Both School of Art and Library holdings are listed in the library catalogue Primo.
