Global Opportunities

Explore other cultures, challenge yourself and gather experiences which will help with your career.

Aberystwyth University offers you the opportunity of a lifetime to study, volunteer or work in another country, for an academic year, a single semester or a few weeks during your holidays.

Studying at one of our partner universities can offer you a new perspective on your subject and the opportunity to deepen and supplement your studies at Aberystwyth. Time spent exploring a new culture can also sharpen your interpersonal and communication skills, improve your language ability, and broaden your international mindset.

Here in the Department of International Politics, we strongly encourage students to consider applying to study abroad at a carefully selected university for either one semester or a full academic year.

Four-year schemes with integrated year studying abroad

In fact, we think this is so useful to students studying international politics that you can incorporate a year of study abroad on two four-year schemes:

BA International Relations (with integrated year studying abroad) 242L

BA Politics and International Relations (with integrated year studying abroad) L249

These schemes enable you to choose to study in one of our partner Universities. We have a number of these in Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. Your year abroad will take place during your third year, and you will return to Aberystwyth to complete your degree in the fourth and final year. Credits earned from modules studied at your exchange institution will count towards your degree.

Any scheme: studying a semester abroad in year 2

Across our other degree schemes, we offer the opportunity to study abroad for one semester. This takes place in Year 2 at one of our partner Universities in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia. Credits earned from modules studied at your exchange institution will count towards your degree.
