'Diflanedig Fyd' Book Launch

Dr Bleddyn Owen Huws’ recently published book, Diflanedig Fyd: Gohebiaeth Carneddog a Gwallter Llyfni 1926-1932 is to be launched today, on Thursday 18 November (5.30pm) at the Seddon Room, The Old College. This volume, (edited by Dr Huws) is part of his research project on the correspondence between Carneddog and some of his contemporaries (‘Gohebiaeth Carneddog a rhai o’i Gyfoedion’) and was funded by the Board of Celtic Studies Language and Literature Committee.

 

The book contains a collection of 95 personal letters between the poets Carneddog (1861-1947) and Gwallter Llyfni (1883-1932), correspondence which reflects various aspects of cultural life for the relitavely uneducated working class, when the  contribution of ordinary men and women was intrinsic to Welsh culture. As well as shedding valuable light on the literary and cultural interests of Carneddog and Gwallter Llyfni, the letters also gives us an insight into the nature of their friendship.
