Storm Imogen update; 18:30, Monday 8 February 2016
08 February 2016
Students living in seafront halls at Aberystwyth University are warm, dry and enjoying a free evening meal as the current poor weather conditions continue.
Approximately 300 students currently resident in the sea front halls as well any students living in private accommodation on the seafront in Aberystwyth have been relocated and are currently being cared for on the University’s Penglais Campus where complementary hot food and drinks are being provided.
Students who require urgent support are advised to contact the University’s emergency hotline on 01970 622900.
The University is monitoring the situation and working closely with Ceredigion County Council and Natural Resources Wales.
Rebecca Davies, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer, said: “We have invited our students living in seafront accommodation up to the Penglais campus for dinner. We are aware that there is another high tide just before 8pm this evening and storm Imogen is still giving us some high waves and strong winds, so we want to make sure everyone is safe and sound.”
