Department of Geography and Earth Sciences was named Department of the Year.

The winners of the Student-Led Teaching Awards, as nominated by students were announced last Friday at Aberystwyth University.
Hosted by the Students’ Union, with the support of the University, eight awards were given at a glitzy ceremony in Medrus.
Dr Brieg Powell won the Award for Excellence in Welsh-Medium Education; Dr Christian Enemark won New Staff Member of the Year; Dr Tom Holt won Outstanding Teaching Award; Dr Kevin Grove won Personal Tutor of the Year; Ms Rose Sillars won Postgraduate Teacher Award; Mr Ben Holihead won Student Representative of the Year; Ms Ffion Hoare won Support Staff of the Year and Department of Geography and Earth Sciences was named Department of the Year.
Grace Burton, Education officer, Aberystwyth University Students’ Union said: “It was a real privilege to be leading the celebrations and recognising just how much talent there is in Aberystwyth. Students have been trying to get the winners’ names out of me for weeks, so I was really glad to finally be celebrating the successes of colleagues and friends!
“The awards are very hotly contested, and there were some incredibly touching nominations submitted by students; this demonstrates the huge impact that staff have on the student experience.”
Professor John Grattan, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience said: “I'd like to congratulate all of the winners and nominees at this year’s Student-Led Teaching Awards. It's a great pleasure to see our students voting for whom they feel are the star performers when it comes to teaching and inspiring them. This is what makes Aberystwyth University so special.”
