Eight new Fellows will be honoured by Aberystwyth University at the 2012 Graduation Ceremonies which take place at the University’s Arts Centre from tomorrow, Tuesday 10 until Friday 13 July.

The title of Fellow is awarded to honour distinguished people who have a close association with Aberystwyth University or who have made an outstanding contribution to professional or public life in Wales.

The 2012 Aberystwyth University Honorary Fellows are (in order of presentation):

Michael Sheen: Welsh stage and screen actor. Received an OBE in 2009. Mr Sheen is unable to attend the ceremony, but a video message will be shown of him which will be presented by Emeritus Professor Elan Closs Stephens CBE, from the Department of Theatre Film & Television Studies, at 11am on Tuesday 10 July.

Alex Jones: Former Aberystwyth student. Presenter on The One Show. Miss Jones is unable to attend the ceremony, but a video message will be shown of her which will be presented by Emeritus Professor Elan Closs Stephens CBE, from the Department of Theatre Film & Television Studies, at 11am on Tuesday 10 July.

Professor Michael Clarke: Former Aberystwyth student. Director of the Royal United Services Institute. Mr Clarke will be presented by Professor Len Scott from the Department of International Politics, at 3pm on Tuesday 10 July.

Mark Price: Managing Director of Waitrose. Chairman of Business in the Community and the Prince’s Countryside Fund. Mr Price is unable to attend the ceremony, but a video message will be shown of him which will be presented by Professor Wayne Powell, Director of the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS), at 11am on Wednesday 11 July.

Dr Jan Jaroslav Pinkava: Former Aberystwyth student. Oscar winner for animated film work. Dr Pinkava will be presented by Professor Chris Price from the Department of Computer Science, at 3pm on Wednesday 11 July.

Rev. John Gwilym Jones: Former Aberystwyth student. Former Archdruid of Wales. Rev. Jones will be presented by Gwerfyl Pierce Jones, Vice-President of Aberystwyth University’s Council, at 3pm on Thursday 12 July.

Caitlin Moran: Broadcaster, TV critic and columnist. Ms Moran will be presented by Rebecca Davies, Pro-Vice Chancellor for Student and Staff Services, at 11am on Friday 13 July.

Sir David Lloyd Jones: One of the Presiding Judges of Wales. Sir David will be presented by Professor John Williams from the Department of Law and Criminology, at 3pm on Friday 13 July.
