World wide recognition for School of Management and Business
Aberystwyth University's School of Management and Business is the first business school in Wales to secure MBM (Masters in Business and Management) accreditation from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), and one of only 20 business schools world-wide.
The award of MBM accreditation for two Masters degree programmes - the MSc. (Econ) Management and the MSc. (Econ) International Business Management - was presented to the newly appointed Director of the Aberystwyth School of Management and Business, Mr Nick Perdikis, at the AMBA 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner, hosted by the Association of MBAs in London on 8 November.
Speaking of the new MBM accreditation Mr Perdikis said:
“This latest development is testimony to the quality and value of our qualifications here at Aberystwyth, both in relation to enhancing competitiveness in the global employment market, and in terms of positioning us against our competitors. Aberystwyth is truly and international business school. The accreditation compliments an already prestigious portfolio of Masters Degree programmes including the MBA programme which, in 1999, became the first MBA programme in Wales to secure AMBA accreditation.
“Our other quality programmes include the MSc. (Econ) Management and Marketing programme and the MSc. (Econ) Management and Finance programme both of which are supported by active research centres based at the School, and the MSc. (Econ) Accounting and Finance programme and the MSc. (Econ) International Finance programme which are both recognized by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) as “advanced Masters Degree programmes” offering specialist and research pathways.”
Prof. Aled Jones, Pro Vice-Chancellor at Aberystwyth University said “This is good news for everyone. The programme accreditation positions us as a top business school offering qualifications which are recognised by academia, professional bodies and employers around the world.”
“The appointment of Mr Perdikis as Director of the School of Management and Business will undoubtedly support this and future developments at the School,” he added.
