Degree accreditation

The Programme Accreditation scheme of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (IMA) accredits university degree programmes in Mathematics.
Following a recent programme review of the department's provision, our single honours degree schemes have been re-accredited by the Institute.
Graduates of our MMath degrees in Mathematics and Mathematical and Theoretical Physics will meet the educational requirements for the Chartered Mathematician (CMath) designation.
Students who graduate from the one of the following BSc degrees will meet the educational requirements for the Chartered Mathematician designation after a further year of training and experience:
BSc (Hons) Mathematics (including allied schemes with a foundation year or industrial year)
BSc (Hons) Applied Mathematics and Pure Mathematics
BSc (Hons) Applied Mathematics and Statistics
BSc (Hons) Pure Mathematics and Statistics
BSc (Hons) Financial Mathematics (including the scheme with a foundation year)
BSc (Hons) Mathematical and Theoretical Physics
BSc (Hons) Mathematics and Physics
BSc (Hons) Mathematics with Education
All students commencing one of these degree schemes between 2020 and 2024 will benefit from the accreditation.
