Research
I am interested in how marine animals use their environment, in the potential impacts from human activities on them, and in the development of methods and (statistical) tools to investigate and improve marine animal conservation. I have ongoing research into strandings and rehabilitation of marine megafauna (cetaceans, pinnipeds, penguins and seabirds), the distribution and conservation of cetacean and seal species (eg, franciscana dolphins, humpback whales, Weddell seals), and into the oceanographic processes related to drastic changes in the physical and ecological environment of polar regions.
