Melanie Lean MSc Equine Science
Studying Veterinary Science at Szent Istvan University Veterinary Faculty in Budapest.
"I came to study the MSc Equine Science at Aberystwyth University having already completed a BSc in Equine Sports Science, and previously worked at Rossdales Equine Hospital in Newmarket. I was very fortunate to be awarded a Scholarship from the Worshipful Company of Saddlers, which helped to fund the course. The MSc was definitely challenging, but pushes you academically and broadens your skills and scientific knowledge base. The residential courses at Gregynog Hall are a great way to meet speakers who may be able to help or advise you regarding your dissertation topic and future career path. I was thrilled to be able to spend a summer in Lexington, Kentucky at the Gluck Equine Research Centre for my dissertation, investigating ‘The humoral immune response to commercially available equine influenza vaccines in aged horses’. It was during my time in Kentucky that I decided to apply for veterinary medicine, largely due to the support and encouragement, which I received whilst in the USA and from Aberystwyth. I am now studying for my DVM at Szent Istvan University Veterinary Faculty in Budapest."
