Teaching
The Department of International Politics offers PhD students the opportunity to obtain teaching experience as Part Time Teaching Staff (PTTS). PTTS play a major role in the Department’s undergraduate teaching programme and their contribution to Departmental life is highly valued.
PTTS gain invaluable experience in developing leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, all of which are essential to effective teaching. Students with teaching experience often enjoy a comparative advantage in an increasingly competitive job market.
PhD students who are interested in participating in the Department’s teaching programme apply annually to the Director of Undergraduate Studies for an appointment as a PTTS. Most applicants are successful in securing teaching each year. Please note that some PhD funding, such as the E.H. Carr studentships and AberDoc scholarships, require award holders to participate in the PTTS programme.
