What will I study?
The intensive two-week summer school aims to develop your English language skills and help you become an effective and confident communicator in English. The course focuses on all 4 skills but there is more emphasis on speaking and listening, which means you can immediately try out what you learn in your free time and on our wonderful social programme.
We want to prepare you for real life, everyday, social situations in English so you’ll be covering a lot of speaking practice in the classroom. Your teachers will give you activities such as role-plays, goal-based tasks and interactive games so that you get to communicate in English as much as possible. Also, you will gain feedback and correction on your performance.
You will review grammar, vocabulary and functional English but you will also learn new language which will be most useful for you in everyday social situations. Focus on grammar and other aspects of the language will be done in a fun and interactive way and you’ll be presented with real language from authentic contexts.
Areas we focus on include:
- Developing conversation and discussion skills
- Enhancing skills and confidence in spoken fluency
- Pronunciation, word and sentence stress and intonation for confident communication
- Improving reading and writing skills for everyday contexts
- Accuracy in speaking and writing
- Effective listening
