Climate Change Consortium Wales (Human Dimensions)
Four Welsh universities (Aberystwyth, Bangor, Cardiff and Swansea) have joined forces to establish the Climate Change Consortium of Wales (C3W) in order to:
- improve our fundamental understanding of the causes, nature, timing and consequences of climate change on physical and societal systems, and thereby inform decision-making concerning a sustainable future.
- undertake a strategic reconfiguration of Welsh climate change research by increasing international competitiveness through enhanced collaboration, capacity-building and coordination of substantial numbers of researchers.
This initial 6-year programme is funded by a grant of £4,020,000 from the Welsh Assembly Government via the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales. Over the funding period we aim to secure at least an equal amount of matching funding.
Mark Whitehead is the Aberystwyth Manager of the Human Dimensions Research Cluster.
