International Glaciological Society British Branch Meeting 2010
The 35th Annual Meeting of the International Glaciological Society British Branch will be held in the MedRus Conference Centre at Aberystwyth University on Thursday 16th and Friday 17th September 2010. To entice you to arrive in Aberystwyth in good time and well rested, the meeting will be preceded by an informal IGES-hosted wine reception and open public talk by Professor John Glen entitled "Sixty years in glaciology" which will kick off at 7:30 pm, Wednesday 15th September.

In addition, Professor John Glen will make an open public presentation in the Institute of Geography and Earth Sciences on the Wednesday evening preceding the meeting. There will be a wine reception courtesy of the department and all delegates are very welcome to attend.
To register for the meeting, please complete and return the registration form by Monday 30th August 2010 with your payment (please note that 30th August is also the deadline for your abstracts; see below). Registration for the meeting is £30 per delegate (waged) and £20 per delegate (student/unwaged). The IGS annual conference dinner is highly recommended and available at £30 per delegate (waged) and £25 per delegate (student/unwaged). The dinner will be hosted at a local high-point, and the price includes 3 courses, wine and a refreshing Pimms to help calm the nerves after the rapid and heady ascent.
Registration forms can be returned by post or by email (igsbb2010@aber.ac.uk). Payment by credit/debit card is possible by returning filling in the card details form with your registration.
Registration at the meeting will take place between 10.00am and 10.45am, with the first oral session provisionally starting at 11.00am. The last oral session on Friday will conclude at lunch to allowing plenty of time for homeward travel. More detailed information will be circulated to registered delegates in due course.
Awards for the best student poster and oral presentation will be made at the end of the meeting.

Organisation and registration
The British Branch Annual Meeting is an informal two-day meeting at which presentations are welcome on all aspects of ice and snow research. Postgraduate students in particular are welcome to attend and present their work. Presentations
Presentations may be in the form of either a short talk or a poster. Oral presentations will be allocated 12 minutes, but keep your talk to a maximum of 10 minutes to allow time for questions. The number of talks will be restricted to ensure that there is sufficient time for informal discussion and viewing of posters. The latter will be on display throughout the meeting, and delegates presenting posters will be able to give a two-minute ‘advertisement’ for their poster in advance of the main poster session on the first day of the meeting.Awards for the best student poster and oral presentation will be made at the end of the meeting.
Abstract submission
Delegates wishing to give oral and/or poster presentations should complete the appropriate boxes on the registration form. An electronic abstract form (available below) must be completed for each presentation and emailed separately to igsbb2010@aber.ac.uk (please mark each email ABSTRACT in the subject line). Follow the instructions inside the abstract submission form when preparing and submitting each abstract. The deadline for abstracts is Monday 30th August 2010.Accommodation
University accommodation is available within a short (5-minute) walk of the conference centre. Rooms are single occupancy and have shared bathroom and kitchen facilities. The cost of each room per night is £20 (bed only) or £25 (bed and breakfast). Please indicate on the registration form if you wish to stay in university accommodation and include the appropriate payment. In addition, there is a wide range of accommodation available in Aberystwyth town centre (approximately 15 minutes walk from the conference centre) to suit various budgets. We recommend that you book your accommodation as soon as possible as the conference immediately follows a university open day. Please note that a limited amount of floor space accommodation will be available for postgraduates with sleeping bags who indicate this preference on the registration form.Annual dinner

Funding assistance for postgraduates
Postgraduate attendance at the meeting will be supported by reduced registration and annual dinner fees, plus, where possible, the reimbursement of appropriate costs incurred during travel to the meeting. Postgraduate travel cost application forms will be made available at the meeting and on this website. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis and only if all other avenues of potential funding (e.g. department, university and grant-awarding body) have been exhausted.Further details
