What do you remember most about your time at Aber?
Aber was an excellent experience for me both academically and also intellectually. It brought me into contact with various people coming from different backgrounds and ideas. I remember the library with its new IT system and search facilities, the 24x7 availability of the computer room which allowed you to work at whatever time you wanted, the greenery on and around the campus, the long walks around the place. I recall visiting the old university building along the sea front, the impressive National Library with its lush red carpet and enjoying the half an hour walk to the agricultural building campus. Finally, I cannot miss recalling the excellent service I received from the EIA Unit, particularly Dr Alan Bond during all the time I spent studying at Aber.
What are you doing now career-wise and how has your Aberystwyth Degree helped?
Currently, I am Head of Department of Environmental Science and also Science Area Coordinator at the Gian Frangisk Abela Junior College where I also teach Environmental Science to students attending the College. Occasionally, I also lecture at the University of Malta. Otherwise, I do environmental consultancy works on a freelance basis carrying environmental impact assessments (EIA) and also monitoring work and baseline study reports.
What advice would you have for a student doing your course now?
If you believe that such a course would place you in a better position in your country and open up a number of opportunities, then just go for it, work hard, enjoy your time at University and explore the surroundings whenever you can - Wales is a wonderful place to visit. That's advice for all students thinking about studying at Aber.
