Business Finance 2:1

I am currently working in the city as a business development executive for a company called Sogeti. Sogeti is a subsidiary of Capgemini specializing in software testing. My role as a Business Development Executive involves a cross between the marketing and sales department of the company. I am responsible for lead generation and new business development. My responsibilities also include compiling weekly reports for our parent company head quartered in Paris and reporting in on marketing activity and assessing the success of campaigns. My role has already allowed me to travel within the UK and attend several corporate events, where the wine is not just free but really quiet nice.

I studied business finance at Aberystwyth achieving a 2;1 and to put it simply my degree has been invaluable. Due to the flexible nature of the degree structures within SMB I was able to take on modules in Marketing and Economics which are enabling me to have a knowledge and an understanding of the market that a finance major traditional would not. The wide spread of first year modules that SMB students are encouraged to take has given me a great end to end understanding of the sales cycle and business operations which has been integral to my role.

All in all I do not think i would have been able to achieve what i have with out Aberystwyth's School of management and business. Not only have I been sent in to the working world with a fantastic theoretical and practical understanding of business, I have also been given the ability to be confident and communicate more efficiently thanks to the integrated staff student community of Aber SMB.
