Ethical Investment and Banking
In June 2024, the University adopted a new ethical investments policy, including commitments to publish our investment portfolio annually, to socially responsible investment and the screening out of investments into sectors/industries that have a negative societal and environmental impact. Screened industries include:
- Fossil fuels, e.g., coal & tar sands, thermal coal mining & power generation, and unconventional oil & gas
- Controversial weapons and weapons systems
- The tobacco industry
- UN Global Compact violators and industries in violation of international law
In addition, the investments committee are working towards a net zero portfolio over the coming years.
For more details on these commitments, find our policy here: Investments Policy (June 2024), and for more information on our financial policies and procedures read here: Procedures & Policies
