Brief description

This module focuses on the use of French in the workplace. Students will practice business writing in French, as well as presentation skills and information processing that reflect common workplace communication tasks: presenting in a professional capacity, writing notes and memos, synthesising information in response to a business project / brief, writing persuasively (selling a product, analysing a target market, hiring and being hired).
Students will prepare a portfolio of an oral presentation and a short written piece (300-500 words) demonstrating how they propose to work with or for a company. Based on their analysis in the oral presentation, they will undertake a commercial writing sample relating to the specific company, and they will explain what choices they made to make that piece of writing successful: apply for a position, suggest a collaboration, contribute to the marketing strategy of the company.
The in-class test, lasting 40 minutes, reflects common workplace tasks and asks students to synthesise and organise information in response to a business brief.
