Wedi cwblhau'r modiwl dylai'r myfyrwyr fedru:

  1. comprehend the essentials of FE/HE teaching, designing a module, participating in a one-to-one tutorials, and either conducting a small-group seminar or delivering a short lecture;
  2. understand what it means to be an ‘artist’ and/or ‘art historian’ and situate themselves in relation to professional practice in their chosen field;
  3. appreciate the practicalities of self-promotion, applying for funding, approaching galleries, securing and staging exhibitions, setting up and maintaining a studio, approaching publishers, attending conferences, and writing research papers;
  4. write a profile, design and publish and web page, and deliver a short presentation on their work as artists or art historians.

Disgrifiad cryno

Vocational Practice prepares students for the realities and practicalities of pursuing and maintaining professions associated with art practice and art history. It identifies activities and skills pertinent to such career objectives: teaching and self-promotion are among them. Many exhibiting artists, publishing art historians, and practicing curators supplement their income with part-time teaching. To this end, the module provides rudimentary training and experience in key aspects FE/HE teaching.

Students will also be encouraged to develop a concept of professional self-identity as artists and art historians, establishing practical means by which they can survive and develop as professional artists and art historians, and their work may be presented to the public, gallery curators, conference organisers, and publishers.

The module aims to:
* instruct and provide experience in key aspects associated with of vocational practice in Fine Art. In particular to:
* train students in the rudiments of art school teaching
* train students in the practicalities of exhibition preparation, installation, and curation
* define concepts and types of professional identity
* prepare students for survival and development as professional artists
* enable students to present themselves clearly and persuasively in both orally and in writing. In particular, to instruct students in the production of an accompanying exhibition catalogue in collaboration with the other exhibiting students for ARM0260 Exhibition 2 and a Presentation given in the context of a Viva Voce.

objectives
* In terms of teaching: comprehend the elements of teaching, design a module, participate in a one-to-one tutorial, either conduct a small-group seminar or deliver a short lecture
* In terms of exhibition: prepare of a gallery, hang of a body of art works, light a gallery; organise an exhibition'r publicity and opening, and dismantle and exhibition
* situate themselves in relation to one or other of the various options for defining professional practice and the idea of `artist?
* understand and be equipped in the practicalities and openings of applying to galleries and for financial assistance, self-promotion, securing and staging exhibitions, and studio acquisition and maintenance
* write an exhibition catalogue entry, design (corporately) a catalogue, and conduct a short presentation on their work
