Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module students should be able to:

Demonstrate an understanding of the history and context of behaviour change.

Demonstrate an awareness of the relevance of behaviour change to environmental sustainability.

Brief description

Students will explore the history and development of behaviour change as a discipline, including how human brain evolution and development may influence behaviour and psychological drivers of behaviour as well as evaluating a number of recognised behaviour change models and approaches.
The module will explore how and where behaviour change approaches might be used, highlight relevant research and include case studies relevant to the food production, processing and retail and biotech sectors.

Content

Through a series of online lectures, guided reading and quizzes, students will explore:
a) Theories that aim to explain why we behave as we do.
b) The history and context of Behaviour Change as a discipline
c) The relevance of behaviour change to environmental sustainability.
