Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
1. Demonstrate an awareness of the various stages of media production from conception to realisation, including camerawork and editing.
2. Successfully upload a media production onto the web for dissemination.
3. Work effectively as part of a production group.
4. Demonstrate a sharpened understanding of specific production roles.
5. Demonstrate an ability to reflect critically on their work as an individual within a production team.
Brief description
In addition, issues of media convergence will be addressed through the dissemination of these films via the internet as well as via the maintenance of a blog, which will allow a critical and theoretically-informed reflection on media production. Much of the time spent on the module will be self-directed learning in production groups.
Content
Lectures and workshops on writing; camerawork; editing; generic styles and forms (including silent film, narrative, non-narrative and experimental work); working as part of a production team; uploading material to the web; convergence issues.
