Recognise, interpret and explain the geological, climatic and environmental processes that have shaped present-day landscapes and habitats.
Outline the major phases in the evolution of life on earth and describe key events as preserved in the fossil record.
Describe the evolution of major groups of organisms and identify the anatomical links between extinct and living life forms.
Brief description
This module will integrate geology, biogeography and palaeobiology to explain how such processes have shaped the evolution of life. as evidenced primarily in the fossil record.
Content
Geological time and history. Plate tectonics. Palaeoclimates. Biogeography. Palaeobiology. The fossil record. Evolution of modern lifeforms.
