Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module students should be able to:
demonstrate a degree of proficiency in observational drawing from the life model.
analyse the human form and interpret that analysis in the context of a number of different project briefs.
evidence some understanding of the creative potential of life studies within the framework of the student’s broader art practice.
evaluate their own work in relation to other students taking this module.
handle a range of drawing media with a degree of dexterity.
interact with others in individual and group tutorials.
Brief description
Students continue their life-class based art practice from Level 1, following a series of projects based around the life model. The type and length of pose is set by the tutor who will also prescribe a series of projects that explore the subject of the nude in the context of: line, tone, chiaroscuro, short and long poses, introducing the students to number of different drawing materials.
Aims
This module is designed for students wishing to work in the life class at level 2. It is an option for those students with a particular interest in drawing the nude and forms the first part of a pathway in Life Studies initiated in Part 1.

Week 7: Chiaroscuro (iii) obscured form & group tutorial
Week 8: Movement and arrested movement (i)
