Old College Christmas Events
These events are organised to strengthen the connection between University Staff, the local community and external partners by gathering in an informal environment in order to celebrate a year of successes, achievements and, of course, the festive season. The events are usually held in the Old College in Aberystwyth Town Centre as it is an iconic building for Aberystwyth and, for this type of event, it can be used to its full potential.
Individually these events provide their own benefits, as well as bringing everyone together for the Festive Season.
Staff 'Mince Pie and Mulled' Wine Thank You
A chance to reward those staff members who have really excelled themselves in the past year. Staff members are nominated by Institute Directors and Managers, Heads of Departments or members of the Board of Executives. It includes a selection of fruit pies and mulled wine.
Town Christmas Party
This event helps strengthen the relationship between the local community and the University through an informal gathering. This includes a selection of foods, festive music, decor and a Santa Claus for the younger generation. It is also an opportunity to make the local people aware of the Vice-Chancellors Charity of the Year and includes a variety of fundraisers.
Local Dignitaries Christmas Party
Following on from the local community party, the Vice-Chancellor’s Office holds a guest reception for local dignitaries as a way of thanking those locally who have supported the University, Aberystwyth, Ceredigion or Wales in some way, shape or form.
