Frequently Asked Questions

I do not have a valid Passport, what do I need to do?

If you do not have a valid passport, you should apply for one as soon as possible and contact the Global Opportunities Team to seek further advice.

Please note it is no longer possible travel to the UK using a European National Identity Card, and so this will not be accepted during the application process.

When can I expect to hear back about an admissions decision?

The Global Opportunities Team will contact applicants regarding an admissions decision within 4 weeks of the application deadline.

Please wait until the full 4 weeks has passed before contacting the team for an update of your application.

I will not be able to provide all my supporting documents by the application deadline, what do I do?

If you feel you will miss the application deadline for any reason, you must notify The Global Opportunities Team as soon as possible.

If you do not contact The Global Opportunities Team before the application deadline, your application will be considered incomplete and will not be processed.

I am unsure about what documents I need to submit to support my application, what do I do?

Please read the information about supporting documents carefully. If you still require further clarity, please contact The Global Opportunities Team, and we will be happy to advise you.

I do not meet the English Language Requirements for my programme, can I still apply?

Yes you can, but you must notify The Global Opportunities Team as soon as possible.

If you do not meet the English Language Requirements for your chosen programme, Aberystwyth University’s International English Centre offers a range of Pre-sessional Study Skills Courses to get your English up to the required level.

If your application is successful, The International English Centre will be informed and will then invite you to apply for one of the Pre-Sessional Study Skills Courses.

If you pass a Pre-sessional Study Skills Course at the level stated in your offer letter, you can progress automatically to your chosen programme.

I have received a Conditional Offer letter, what does this mean?

If you have received a conditional offer letter, this means that you have not met all the conditions (requirements) to confirm a place to study at Aberystwyth University.

This does not mean that your application has been unsuccessful, but it does mean there are a few more conditions you must meet to confirm your place to study and receive an unconditional offer letter. The conditions you need to complete to fulfil your offer will be outlined in your letter.

It is important that you try to complete these conditions as soon as possible and by the deadline detailed in your letter at the very latest.

If you do not meet these conditions by the deadline date detailed in your letter, your application will be withdrawn.
