Aberystwyth University has some of the most satisfied students in the UK according the latest Guardian university league table.
Aberystwyth tops the table in the UK for student satisfaction with feedback in the 2020 edition of The Guardian university league table which is published today, Friday 7 June 2019.
The University is also second in the UK for student satisfaction with teaching and for student satisfaction with course.
The news has been welcomed by Professor Tim Woods, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Learning, Teaching and Student Experience at Aberystwyth University.
Professor Woods said: “Once more, The Guardian’s league table shows that Aberystwyth students are amongst the most satisfied in the UK.”
“These results are testament to our excellent teaching standards and the outstanding commitment of staff across the institution. They also echo the findings of the Teaching Excellence Framework where we hold a Gold rating, and The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide where we have been named UK University of the Year for Teaching Quality for two consecutive years.”
“League tables of course are one of a range of sources available to help prospective students choose the best place for them to study. Before making a final decision, we would encourage all applicants to visit us on an Open Day or campus tour so that they can speak to current students, meet some of the lecturers who will be teaching them and see for themselves our excellent facilities and fantastic coastal location.”
The latest results build on Aberystwyth’s excellent rankings over the past 12 months.
In July 2018 Aberystwyth University was rated best in Wales and one of the best higher education institutions in the UK in the National Student Survey (NSS) with overall student satisfaction at 90%.
In September 2018, Aberystwyth University was named University of the Year for Teaching Quality by The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2019 - the first University to receive the prestigious award for two years running.
The guide also saw Aberystwyth ranked top in the UK for teaching quality in the 2019 edition of the Good University Guide, up five places on 2018.
The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide editor Alastair McCall said at the time that Aberystwyth had “achieved something no other UK university has done in winning our University of the Year for Teaching Quality award for two years in a row by exceeding already excellent previous results in the annual National Student Survey.”
He added, “No university in the UK now has students happier with the quality of their teaching, the product of a concerted effort to put student needs first and last.”
The Guardian university league table is based on nine measures: Satisfied with course, Satisfied with teaching, Satisfied with feedback, Student to staff ratio, Spend per student, Average entry tariff, Value added score and Career after 6 months.
