Aberystwyth University’s new £45m student residences, Fferm Penglais, is set to welcome 700 students later this week in time for the new academic year.

Inspired by the landscape and architecture of rural Wales, Fferm Penglais offers some of the best student accommodation the UK in a series of three storey buildings with flats for six or eight students living in self-catered accommodation.

Each building provides generous en-suite bedrooms, double kitchens and open plan lounge areas. The individual rooms are the largest available within the University’s residences, and offer students plenty of space for living and studying, with in-room hard wired and Wi-Fi internet access.

To further support learning and social activities, a central hub provides a range of social and learning facilities to support student life including launderettes, bike stores, a communal space for clubs and societies, and a cafe.

In addition to the beautifully landscaped environment, Fferm Penglais affords fantastic views across Cardigan Bay.

Jim Wallace, Director of Campus and Commercial Services said: “Student response to the new facilities offered on Fferm Penglais has been excellent and the University is delighted that all 700 rooms which are ready for the new academic year will be occupied.”

Once completed, Fferm Penglais will offer accommodation for 1000 students. The remaining 300 rooms, will be completed this year, and open to students from September 2016.
