Student competition worth £20,000

InvEnterPrize

Aberystwyth University is providing its students with a great opportunity to possibly win £20,000 towards starting a new business venture.

The InvEnterPrize competition is a new and exciting competition open to students at Aberystwyth University to win investment and support to develop a business idea, be it a service related venture or an invention.

“I started my Telecoms business in the second year of computer science at Aberystwyth with £2,000. 10 years later, it’s a multi-million pound business employing over 70 people” explained Peter Gradwell, founder of Gradwell dot com Ltd.

“To be a successful entrepreneur you need a great idea, a customer and an opportunity. InvEnterPrize will seriously expand the opportunity with a massive £20,000 and loads of expert advice – ten times more help and support so hopefully, will help launch ideas that will be ten times more successful.”

Entries are encouraged from students studying at Aberystwyth during 2012/13; from Individuals or teams with inventions, business start-up ideas and other ambitious plans.   Shortlisted applicants will be asked to present their ideas to the judges in the form of a ‘Dragon’s Den’ panel prior to the winner being chosen.

The closing date for entries is Friday 1 February 2013 and the winning entry will receive a generous prize package including support and investment worth up to a maximum of £20,000. They will also get:

•    Business start-up support
•    Technical mentoring
•    Intellectual property advice
•    Prototyping

The competition is financed by the Annual Fund through the Development and Alumni Relations Office, organised by the Commercialisation and Consultancy Services Department (CCS) and supported by both the Student Union and the Careers Service.
