On Thursday 13 October, Aberystwyth University welcomed HRH Earl of Wessex to the University.
HRH Earl of Wessex’s visit to the University formed part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards celebrations held at the MedRus Conference Centre on Penglais Campus.
During his visit, he met with senior members of the University and discussed how the institution is meeting the requirements of future generations of students and staff by providing high quality learning, teaching and structural provisions – all of which contribute to the excellent student experience at Aberystwyth.
HRH Earl of Wessex was welcomed to the University by Professor April McMahon, Vice-Chancellor, who introduced him at the Duke of Edinburgh’s event at the University where he spoke to a distinguished audience of local representatives before joining the University’s senior team for a brief presentation.
Professor McMahon said: “We were delighted to welcome His Royal Highness to the University and invite him to learn about how our growing institution is meeting the requirements of current and future generations of students and staff. I, together with my colleagues, explained to the Earl our vision for the future and how we will continue to attract students from all over the globe to our internationally recognised institution.”
Mrs Stephanie Price, Director of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme in Wales commented: “Our Brighter Futures event celebrates the achievements of young people in Wales and I’m extremely pleased that HRH Earl of Wessex was able to join us to mark this special occasion and demonstrate how important the contributions of the young people has been.
“We’re grateful to Aberystwyth University for all their assistance in hosting this event, the facilities available and the warm welcome has helped us to ensure the success of our event.
The Brighter Futures event was held at the MedRus Conference Centre at Aberystwyth University.
