On Monday 27th of June delegates from the Kochi Technology University in Japan visited Aberystwyth University.

The delegation comprised of four senior academics, Professor Seigo Nasu, Director of the School of Management and Research Centre for Social Management Systems, Professor Taketo Sakuma, President of University, Professor Masanobu Nagano, Professor and the head of the Community Activation Division, and Professor Akimitsu Hatta, head of the international relations centre and Professor of System Engineering Department

Their visit was part of an extended tour of science based institutes in Wales which took them to both Aberystwyth and Bangor over the four days of their visit.

While at Aberystwyth the delegates visited the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences, the Institute of Mathematics and Physics and had lunch with Professor Noel Lloyd and members of the Senior Management Team at Plas Penglais. After Aberystwyth they will be visiting the Centre for Alternative Technology in Machynlleth before heading to Bangor.

The visit was an opportunity to introduce the delegates to the current work being carried out within IBERS and IMAPS and will help to develop a strong cross-institutional link between Aberystwyth and the Kochi University.
