West Wales businesses to be advised on E-Crime
A workshop hosted by Software Alliance Wales, a £13million pan-Wales programme led by Swansea University and delivered in partnership with Aberystwyth, Glamorgan, Bangor and University of Wales: Trinity Saint David Universities, will be held at Aberystwyth University’s Visualisation Centre on Wednesday 15th December at 6.00pm.
The event entitled “E-crime: How safe is your business?’ is one of a range of workshops being held for businesses by the Software Alliance Wales programme designed to increase growth and competiveness in the digital technology sector across the country.
The workshop will address a number of E-crime initiatives including how safe is your business from electronic attack? What safeguards do you employ to protect your key business information? Is your knowledge and understanding of the risks up to date? Are you sure?
Guest speaker Karen Burch, the E-Crime Wales Business Officer who works closely with Heddlu Dyfed Powys Police, will provide an overview of the major risks to small businesses from electronic crime – and present an analysis of the steps the small-medium enterprise (SME) community should be taking today to protect their interests.
The session will discuss the legal obligations of the small business in the context of E-Crime, discuss approaches to risk management in SMEs and will include case studies about organisations in Wales who have experienced E-Crime recently, along with the lessons learned. There will also be a question and answer session the end of the talk, along with an opportunity for business people to network and exchange best practice.
