New DVD launched

New DVD to promote studying at Aberystwyth University launched

A DVD which promotes Aberystwyth University, and life as a student in Aberystwyth, has been launched by the Admissions and Recruitment Office of Aberystwyth University. 

Aimed at prospective students, parents and teachers, the DVD provides viewers with a powerful insight into what Aberystwyth has to offer.  Current students provide an honest opinion on academic life, the town, entertainment and everything in between.
 
Russell Davies, Marketing Manager, commented: “We have produced promotional videos since the mid 1980s and were considered to be amongst the leaders in our field.  With technological advancements there is an expectation amongst prospective students that they will be able to log on to their laptop and view what a University has to offer quickly and from the comfort of their own home.  We therefore use the DVD, and parts of it, online as a way of giving people a real sense of what life is like in Aberystwyth.”

‘Aber experts’ were involved in the production of the DVD with Robert Light of Greenfield Media producing the DVD and Ellen Salisubry narrating, both graduates of the Theatre, Film and TV Departments of the University.

The launch of the DVD coincides with the production of the latest prospectus for Aberystwyth University. 

Russell Davies, said: “Whilst electronic formats have become increasingly important in addressing the growing trend in receiving information instantly and interactively, the traditional prospectus produced by the University still remains a firm favourite.  It seems that being able to share the prospectus with family members when discussing University choices is as popular as ever.  We therefore produce over 76000 copies of the prospectus in English and 3000 copies in Welsh.  We are the only UK University to produce a separate, full prospectus in Welsh and are very proud of it.”
