Aber Ranked 4th in Student Survey

Students at Aberystwyth University

Teaching and learning at Aberystwyth University ranks with the best in the UK, according to the Times Higher Education’s Student Experience Survey which is published today, Thursday 14 January 2010.

Aberystwyth University is placed 4th in the survey’s Top 10 for Teaching and Learning table – after Oxford (1), Cambridge (2) and St Andrews (3). 

The poll also shows that Aberystwyth University offers the best all-round student experience in Wales, with an overall ranking of 6th across the UK.

More than 11,000 full-time undergraduates in 104 universities were contacted by market research agency Opinionpanel as part of the survey.

They were asked to rate their university on 21 different attributes which are considered key to a positive student experience – from the quality of teaching to student support, social life and institutional facilities.

Aberystwyth University also made it in into the top ten for providing students with the best facilities, ranking 9th across the UK.

Prof. Martin Jones, Pro Vice Chancellor at Aberystwyth University said:

“We are delighted that Aberystwyth University has maintained its position at the top of the table for the best student experience in Wales and that our overall ranking across the UK has moved up from 8th place in 2008 to 6th place in 2009. We are also pleased that students have ranked us 4th across the UK, based on their experience of teaching and learning at Aberystwyth. These results are testament to the quality of teaching here and the professionalism, dedication and commitment of our staff.

“Today’s Times Higher Education survey is the latest in a series of polls which have placed Aberystwyth among the top ten universities in the UK for providing the best student experience .
