Undergraduate acceptances to Aberystwyth University this year are up 18% compared to September 2007. Undergraduate acceptances across Wales have increased by 2.7%* and by 8.8%* across the UK (*UCAS data published Wednesday 10 September 2008).
Subject areas that have recruited particularly successfully this year include Mathematics and Physics which are up 50% and 45% respectively, Computer Science +36%, English +27%, Management and Business +24%, Geography and Earth Sciences, Rural Sciences and Biological Sciences all +21%, and Law and International Politics which are +18.75% and +15.5% respectively.
On Friday 12 September the University announced that it had exceeded its admissions target and consequently it is no longer included in the UCAS listings.
Dr Hywel Davies, Director of Admissions and Recruitment said:
“Aberystwyth's continued success in high student satisfaction levels and our new brand identity are catching the imagination of prospective students. This has been an outstanding recruitment year, surpassing all expectations and sets a record for the largest number of undergraduates accepted to Aberystwyth University.”
