I Love Aber
The Aberystwyth Guild of Students has launched a large scale research project aimed at finding out why students love studying in Aberystwyth, and what local people think of the students.

In a week-long postcard campaign launched on Monday 12 November, students at Aberystwyth University were asked to respond to three statements on a postcard, I love Aber because….., I'd love Aber even more if….., and The Union would be better if…...

We are building on this by looking at why they enjoy studying here and more importantly what the Guild, the University and the town can do to make things even better. Since mentioning the research we have had brilliant support and involvement from everyone and the response from the students has been awesome”

Over the 5 days Guild of Student Officers canvassed students on their experiences to date and collected over 1100 responses.  On Wednesday 14th the Guild hosted an I Love Aber Reload where the majority of those attending wore I Love Aber t-shirts and badges. Over 900 t-shirts were worn as part of a fundraising campaign for NSPCC and Children in Need at the event. The week also included a bare all for Aber campaign photo shoot at Pantycelyn fields.

The Guild is now preparing for the next phase of the project. On Saturday 1st December Guild of Students Officers will be canvassing the opinions of the people of Aberystwyth, in town, in shops and in public houses and seeking their response to three statements: I love Aber students because….., I would love Aber students more because….., and I would like more involvement with the Students’ Union because……

Once the responses from the two initial surveys have been analysed the Guild of Students is planning a follow-up when they will be looking at how the University and the Guild can make practical changes to improve the students experience at Aberystwyth.
