As over 2000 students prepare to celebrate their graduation from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth this week, the University is also preparing to honour six new Fellows.
Tuesday 10 July, 11 a.m.
The actor and star of the ‘Phantom of the Opera', Mr Peter Karrie, will be presented by the University's Registrar and Secretary, Dr Catrin Hughes. Mr Karrie has worked closely with the Aberystwyth Arts Centre on a number of occasions.
Tuesday 10 July, 3 p.m.
Mr Wil Aaron, producer and journalist, and founder of the film company Ffilmiau’r Nant will be presented by Mr Huw Jones, former Chief Executive of S4C.
Wednesday 11 July, 3 p.m.
Former student Dr Timothy Brain QPM, BA, PhD, FRSA, Chief Constable of Gloucestershire Constabulary will be presented by Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aled Jones. Dr Brain is a member of the Advisory Boards for the Department of History and Welsh History and the School of Management and Business.
Thursday 12 July 3 p.m.
Ms Lynne Brindley MA, FCILIP, FRSA, Chief Executive of The British Library and Chairman of UK Digital Preservation Coalition will be presented by Mr Andrew Green, the National Librarian of Wales.
Friday 13 July 11.a.m.
Professor Keith Mason, Chief Executive and Deputy Chairman of the Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council and CEO of Large Facilities Council will be presented by Professor Noel Lloyd, Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
Friday 13 July 3 p.m.
Lord Livsey of Talgarth MSc, former MP for Brecon and Radnorshire and Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats will be presented by Lord Elystan Morgan. Lord Livsey was one of the founders of the Welsh Agricultural College which merged with the University of Wales Aberystwyth in 1995.
The title of Fellow is awarded to honour persons who are distinguished former students, or else have a close association with the University of Wales, Aberystwyth or with the life of Wales.
