Student Skills competition celebrates 10th anniversary
On Wednesday 15 March the annual Careers Fair and Student Skills competition, an event unique to Aberystwyth and widely considered to be one of the most innovative and original careers fairs in the UK, will be celebrating its 10th anniversary.
Teams from fourteen academic departments will be taking part in the competition, each giving a 10 minute presentation in the Arts Centre Theatre and hosting a stand in the Great Hall. At stake will be a first prize of £1000 for the overall winning team and £500 each for the best stand and the best presentation.
As with conventional Careers Fairs, the main aim of the event, which is organised by the University's careers service Aber Careers, is to bring employers and potential employees together. This year, as always, the event offers a mix of local and national organisations looking to attract quality graduates, and for those looking for the CV that could help them land the job of their dreams, Aber Careers are offering a 20 minute CV clinic to give them the edge.
The event is sponsored by the WDA, European Objective 1 Social Fund, The Army, BBC Cymru Wales, Know How Wales, Barnett Waddingham and the University.
