Two Cofund Fellows

The Department currently hosts two Sêr Cymru II Cofund Research Fellows, working in two distinct areas of mathematics. The scheme is part-funded by the European Commission and the Welsh Government, with the aim of bring high calibre young researchers to work in Welsh universities.

Dr Paolo Musolino,  who is also supported by the Sêr Cymru National Research Network for Low Carbon Energy and Environment, joins us from the University of Padua in Italy. His research is in the development of mathematical tools for analysing the properties of solutions of partial differential equations (so-called functional analysis) describing composite and porous materials, which find uses in applications in advanced engineering, biomechanics, nanoscience and geophysics.

Dr Daniel McNulty has previously worked in the Czech Republic and South Korea, having completed his PhD at the University of York. His research interests lie in quantum information and its foundations. He aims to answer fundamental questions about the structure and existence of special types of quantum measurements.
