Dementia affects many families, after the initial diagnosis families need to change their caring responsibilities. This transition could be managed positively, if we just knew how. During our lifetime 1 in 3 will be diagnosed with dementia. The condition not only affects the individual but the whole family. This has led to dementia being referred to as a ‘public health priority’ with 10 million people being diagnosed every year worldwide. (WHO 2023)
This module works through the main issues encountered by many families with practical advice and an assessment that can be used with your loved one. Dementia affects individuals differently and sifting through the vast amounts of information can often feel a challenge, whilst unnecessarily increasing stress and anxieties?
Within the learning units there will be short reflective tasks delivered through mini presentations and the tasks can be worked through at your own pace. You will be guided by professionals and learn from the stories of those who have been through the process.
