Welcome to the world of writing creatively for children of all ages. Words that run with Wolves can be studied as a stand-alone module, but it could also follow on from the introductory 5-credit online module: An Introduction to Writing for Children. This 10-credit module builds on the introductory course and deepens the student’s understanding and experience of this genre. It draws upon some fantastic, published works for children to explore the multifaceted needs of the various age groups and help aspiring writers produce writing for their intended child audience. We will look at how stories can entertain and teach children, but also how they may help them deal with difficult current world events such as climate change, inequalities and social media as well as other challenges in their own lives. It will also feature illustrating and puppet-making to accompany oral tales and writing fact and academic books for children.
This online learning course enables you to study from home and participate in an online community of other students. The module is delivered through Blackboard, our online learning environment. Words that run with Wolves is an optional module for the Certificate of Higher Education in Creative Writing at Aberystwyth University.
