Overview

This face-to-face module develops an understanding of colour, its practical applications to painting and presents information on colour theory. There is scope for students to respond creatively to projects and to build a portfolio of varied work. Extended projects will be available online too through short videos and demonstrations.

The module aims to give you a diverse range of painting and drawing techniques whilst giving the opportunity to develop your own techniques and be self-expressive. It will be taught as a series of workshops with set exercises.

Discover the exciting properties of colour and explore a diverse range of a painting and drawing skills. 

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module, students should be able to:  

  1. Demonstrate the correct usage of a number of different painting media and techniques.
  2. Evidence a basic understanding of colour mixing and colour theory.
  3. Demonstrate a capacity to respond creatively to prescribed projects.
  4. Deploy appropriate artistic vocabulary when discussing and analysing work of self and others.
