Overview
This module will develop skills in picture-making using landscape as a focus.
Programme
The course equips students with the necessary skills and techniques to make images and paintings on their travels and to record the essence of the scene without necessarily making a resolved painting. We will cover sketching on location, elements of composition, information on colours and colour mixing, experimentation with image making will be encouraged as part of this course.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module, students should be able to:
- To raise visual awareness by working from observation.
- To develop ideas through work on personal projects, using a visual diary to record methods and materials of own and other’s work.
- To develop creative potential and promote student’s evaluation of this potential with tutor support and in small group discussion.
- To develop a broad range of compositional skills to record the landscape within time constraints.
- To nurture the student’s creative potential by means of a variety of specific projects designed to encourage problem solving.
- To develop compositional techniques into the context of the landscape.
