Health, Safety and Environment Governance

The following sections provide details of the University's health, safety and environment governance structure, and associated committees and/or groups. Further information can be requested from the Health, Safety and Environment Team.

Council

As the legal employer the Aberystwyth University Council has ultimate responsibility for the health and safety of employees, students and other people affected by the University's activities.

 

Governance and Culture Committee

The Governance and Culture Committee undertakes a scrutiny role and advises the Council on matters including institutional governance; information governance; human resources and staff development; health and safety; and compliance with legislation, and with the general requirements of government, HEFCW, and other regulators.

Health, Safety and Environment Operational Group

The Health, Safety and Environment Operational Group provides a consultative forum to discuss and monitor the implementation of the University’s health, safety environment strategy and policy including management arrangements. . In so doing, the Health, Safety and Environment Operational Group shall act as a consultative committee for nominated safety representatives from the recognised Trade Unions, in accordance with The Safety Representatives and Safety Committees Regulations 1977.  The Health, Safety and Environment Operational Group is responsible for advising the University Executive, or another governance committee via the University Executive.
